Denis M. Garrison is a poet and editor. His well-received collection of free and formal verse, Sailor in the Rain and Other Poems, is currently in print as are his haiku collections, Hidden River, Eight Shades of Blue, and Fire Blossoms: The Birth of Haiku Noir. Garrison edits the respected journals Modern English Tanka and Ambrosia: Journal of Fine Haiku. He owns and operates the MET Press, a small publishing house specializing in fine verse.

spring forest
bare branches and blossoms
that awkward time

                                                                  plowed fields—
                                                                  an irrigator sends up
                                                                  drifting rainbows

                                                                                                                                    hidden river
                                                                                                                                    the willows cannot help
                                                                                                                                    but tell
