Kathy Kituai, now living in Canberra, grew up beside the Swan River, Western Australia. A love of bird life features in all four of her poetry collections. Her first tanka collection, Straggling into Winter, a tanka journal received a Highly Commended for the Best Poetry Award in the IP Picks 2007, Australia. Her tanka have appeared in Eucalypt, Modern English Tanka, moonset, Red Lights, Ribbons, Stylus, Yellow Moon, Wisteria, and Environment Victoria.
