a flash along the shore
I rest my oars
musing on when last it was
I had a brilliant thought
I let her go
no words or hugs
goodbye
the days grow shorter

where milky skies
meet the rolling ocean

folded and unfolded
cast up by the sea
fragments of a wooden boat
on the white-sand beach
tides reverse like steady breaths
